Hey folks,

I haven't found the leisure so far to listen to all of it, but I'm already very fond of the second song "Fortune plango vulnera". It kept playing in my head all day long:

Rex sedet in vertice - (Ba-da ba ba!)
Caveat ruinam! (Ba-da ba ba! Ba-da ba ba!)
Nam sub axe legimus (Ba-da ba ba!)
Hecubam reginam. (Ba-da ba ba! Ba-da ba ba!) :afaid:  :evil2:

It's a pity that Therion did not cover this one instead of "O Fortuna": It's equally intense, has wide dynamic range, and the "Ba-da ba ba!" is perfect for metalising. Plus it's less known and hence a better choice to educate us fans and to show off one's knowledge of "classical" music.  :lol3:

Cheers!

Hey folks,

at last I've given the whole thing a spin, and I do like it! I must admit, though, that I don't like all pieces equally. Some in the second part, as "Chramer, gip die varwe mir" sound tedious to me, at times even annoying with those over-simplistic melody and that high-pitched choir. But overall I like the Carmina; I keep playing "Fortune plango vulnera" up and down. and I'm sure that at a second or third listening of the whole work I'll discover a few more treasures.

The old German is not understandable for me, Lucy. In "Chramer, gip..." I can still guess it very easily, but others are too far from modern German for me to get the gist.

Cheers!

finally, I got my copy (the only one copy available in EMPIK store in Poland in Warsaw) ;) of Sitra Ahra. I've been in 3 shops and I found Sitra Ahra not even on the shelf between other Therion albums. Uff!! Now it's time for playing it ;)

Got my copy too - today by UPS :) It's really heavy vinyl of transparent colour with number 983 :)

I'll post photos later. Got a terrible headache so I am just going to bed.
But then again, who does.

Beautiful, Kris! I bet you're very proud. :)

Did it come with a booklet or do you need a copy of mine?

Cheers!

No, it does not contain any booklet as usual with vinyls  only the inside page with the lyrics. But if there are not special pics or such You don't need to send me them - if yes, I would appreciate it. :)

The new Amon Amarth is better than I expected. Not saying I had low expectations or anything, but I didn't expect them finally adding some new spices to the mix (like clean tones); I guess it was bound to happen, since following the exact same formula since "Fate of Norns" was probably getting tiresome.
The new Dream Theater is as complex as any of their previous albums, but it unfortunately wasn't as great as their previous album. It also feels like something is missing, something indescribable that I'm guessing is the Mike Portnoy element. However, it is still a solid release, and it's got its good moments.

Hmm... I might check the Amon Amarth new album. I was never much fond of them before and I haven't got my usual Rock magazine to check the article...
Can You tell me more about it? :-)

For DT - I don't like them anymore for a longer time already. I still find as their best album the Metropolis one.
But then again, who does.

Amon Amarth's new album sounds much like all their stuff since 2003; there's songs here and there however that do go into different directions, by adding clean (ie. no distortion effects) guitar tones and even one where they add keyboards; stuff which you rarely see in Death Metal (unless you're Opeth).

As for Dream Theater... Well, the Metropolis concept album was really neat. I personally think their best album is either "Images and Words" or "Awake".

I see, Jorge. Perhaps as in "album I should be getting"?

Myself, I've just bought an opera ticket. I told you that there's a staging of the Ring in my home town. They started last year with the Rheingold and now the second opera had it's premiere. But luckily there's another performance of the Rheingold, and I'm going there. Contacted the opera office by mail and they promised to sell me a ticket online but they never did, so yesterday I stopped at a ticket shop in the city and bought one in the highest category. :wOOt:

Cheers!
