Looks like the next big celestial event is the Perseids in mid-August. In the middle of our visit to Prague, actually.

Kris, is there some place nearby, just out of town, with rather dark skies we could go to to spend a night out?

Hey folks,

watch out for thin, old lunar crescents at dawn these days! It's equinox time - the Sun crosses the celestial equator tomorrow at 12:04 CEDT - and the moon is approaching its new phase. This is a good time to see thin crescents with lots of earthshine before dawn, so watch out! While doing so you will see the first messengers of the upcoming winter, like Orion with Taurus after midnight.

Hey folks,

get your old eclipse-glasses out or look for the setting resp. rising sun - there's a sunspot so huge that you can see it without magnification! All you need to do is protect your eyes from the overly bright sunlight. Use special eclipse glasses for that or, weather permitting, the dimming of the sun at the horizon.
