A few days ago I discovered that there are Reading Groups in English in a very well known bookstore chain here (ABACUS), and I got informed a little about them. You have to pay a fee (not very expensive) and you receive an English magazine monthly, have several club benefits (you can see
HERE ) and, of course, you can go to a reading meeting where you have to read a book in English and discuss about it. There are 6 books (one every 5 weeks more or less), and two levels: Intermediate, for people with a rusty English, able to read short stories, and Advanced, for people with a very good vocabulary, able to read long novels, even English speakers.
From the moment I discovered it I wanted to join, but I thought: "ok, I have not the high level required of English for Advanced: they even say you can be an English teacher in that group!!!! But my (readen) English is not rusty, and I do read long English novels very often. So... where I can go?". I finally signed for the Advanced level. Not sure it's the right one, but I know I can do better than read Roal Dahl and similar (Intermediete level). No offense intended, those are good books, but I want to read adult books
If I feel a little like the most English Killer One in the group... it would be nice!! After all, I'm the English Killer #1!!!
Waiting for some reply to my signing up to the club, btw. And about the read the first book...
