A pity they don't play full O Fortuna... but we have another new song! Absolutely different from the first one (from the clip)... and more as I thought it would be

Also, that French I learned in high school might finally come in handy.

Luth, I haven't been to concert. It's 17.10. in Budapest. I don't have the disc, I will buy it on concert.

Kris, I have seen the videos and I don't like them. J'ai le Mal de Toi is ok and it's a great song.

They are rather utypical for Therion I have to admit. Well, videos are non-typical for Therion at all. They were never really much keen on it before.
But then again, who does.

God  damned that is awesome

I dont want to spoil the fun ( I am loving youtube too) but for this release we shouldnt upload it on YT or anywhere else because Christofer had paid so much for the production from his own pocket.

Hello!

I have heard two songs and i really dont like them, what is happening with therion? Also I saw themn in june in mexico city and i didnt enjoy the concert, it was just too false, very rockstar. I would like to hear the old therion style from lemuria and back beyond (just my humble opinion)

Cheers,
Lava

i didn't want to hear anything of this album until i get my hands on it at the concert ( 19th october)    ..but i was not strong enough to resist the YT temptation...
first reaction..furious of such a waste .. a Therion album of french covers ( sorry but after 12 years of studying it ..i'm allergic to french .. ) I was expecting something majestic ..something even better than the last one...then i started listening to  more songs, and i realized its nothing ordinary about this.. its Therion!

..surprising and unique as always.. only they could have thought of a metal version of french songs ...a whole album of covers. crazy isn't it?

did they go to far? Maybe, but  you would either hate it or love it ..can not stay indifferent to it..and that's good.. its so Therion like.

I'll buy the album..and go to the concert..won't miss it for the world ..

The videos are very bad though :)

Through the night
Pass through the gate
And steer your course
Until you reach the gods...

I think the album is an estrategic joke to collect money to make the opera in progress. If the opera sounds like this last album, I would not hear therion with the great feeling i was used too. I know that evolution in music is necessary, but I think it has to be eloquent with the path, and specially with the path with the great sound they used too. I mean, listen Deggial and Les Fleurs, and if you dont get angry you are not human jajajaja. I think they are losing the spark, may be the great spirit abandoned Johnsson with his hair :p

So I gave the new album its first spin. It's definitely a something else.
It's enjoyable, but it's not at the same level, for me at least, as say "Lemuria" and "Sirius B". I can see the meaning behind it though, with the whole concept of the original "Les Fleurs Du Mal" of Baudelaire being a collection of poetry that was mostly about eroticism, hedonism and decadence; what I got out of it is a lot less direct than in previous releases, I like that. I find that the choice of language is also very pleasing; not because I like French at a personal level (matter of fact, one of my least favorite languages), but due to the importance and "elegance" it seems to convey. In a sense, listening to it made me feel like a 19th Century gentleman, even though the songs are all originally from the 60's and 70's.

tl;dr: I dig this, it's definitely interesting, but I still prefer older Therion material.

I think the problem is that people compare it to other regular Therion albums while it's their anniversary album, something like A'arab Zaraq.

Hey folks,

so today is Therion day for me. :wOOt: I'm going to Glauchau for their show there. Unfortunately I've relied on Amazon to be faster than the Therion store again, so I haven't listened to "Fleurs du Mal" yet - the album will be my souvenir from this show.

Wow, the setlist seems pretty long especially since there are some longer tracks on it. :wOOt:

I'm really curious and excited...

Cheers!

Markus

Markus: enjoy the show!! I'm sure you'll do! Let's see if you agree with one of my fav songs of the show (and new disc).

Have a fantastic concert!!!!  :yeha:

Whew, that sounds enthusiastic, my queen! I have no idea what the new album will sound like - so it's surprise day, and there will be complete songs i a Therion show that I can't sing along with. :afaid:

I'll be leaving in about two hours and hope to post a report by tomorrow or Sunday.

Cheers!
