We have again the normal temperatures... Perhaps less than 30º as maximum. It was really one day... some hours... but what hours!!!!!  :afaid: :afaid: :afaid:

We got a wonderful weather today (and yesterday too). It's not hot, but it's not cold and sun is shining, clear blue sky and near some forests and pastures nice fresh air. This is for me the best weather. Wish it was weather and temperature like this whole summer  :roll-eyes:

I took a walk to the nearest water dam - It's called Hostivař reservoir and it's supposed to be a bathing place in summer but in last decade it suffers a lot from anabaena/cyanophytes which are of course bad too people. It's always the first reservoir in Prague to be closed cause of this every summer.
Well I came there and found out they are emitting the water - draining the reservoir. So I even did not take any pics of it - and I am not sure I would do even if it was full of water. It's really filthy water usually.
But I took a walk around in the so called "forest park" Hostivař and "forest park" Háje. It was very nice and I took only 2 pics.

I met a lot of animals I haven't seen since ages (some of them never):
 - red squirrel
 - black squirrel
 - Tettigoniidae - some of the grasshoppers :) I don't see them since my early childhood. They completely disappeared from the city
 - for first time in my life I saw a bird from the Piciformes - woodpeckers :) I think it might be this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Spotted_Woodpecker :)

I also met one mushroom I haven't seen since my early childhood. Its smell I can recognize from miles :D - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phallus_impudicus

Here are two pics from my way:

But then again, who does.

Hey Kris,

we have the same lovely weather over here, but you're making better use of it - I'm busy with my apartment today and I'll be back in the office tomorrow.  ::)

Lovely pics! I'm glad you enjoyed your excursion this much.

Burgundy snails and woodpeckers also occur in our garden; the latter like to use one of my favourite trees - a robinia that we grew from a seed - as a woodpecker's smithy. I haven't found any proper translation of the German term "Spechtschmiede", but I hope you know what I mean: A place where the woodpecker fixes, for instance, a pine-cone in order to peck out the seeds. The branchings of the robinia seem to have just the right angle for that. :)

Woodpeckers even live here in town as this is - despite the ugly architecture - a rather green part of the city.

Cheers!

Hey Lucy,

I bet that even most German have no idea what a Spechtschmiede is supposed to be.  :wink2:

Haha, lots of years ago my mom got compliments for the same reason in Germany, because she could write Verpflegung correctly.

Oh BTW, something else I love about this weather: It seems to intensify the colours of the plants. Apples, for instance, need cool nights and sunny days in order to get intensely red. I think I've read somewhere that this weather also intensifies the autumn colours of the leaves. Finally I'm convinced that late summer sunshine makes flowers more intense. Ooohh, the red of a rose in late summer sunshine! The velvet dark red of "chocolate flowers" and the red of my dahlia which had a shrill purplish hue in summer and which has turned my favourite red now!

Cheers!

Thank You Markus, indeed seems that Germany is in better environmental state than CZ. Woodpeckers becomes rather uncommon here. And all the animals I use to meet. For me when I meet them all of sudden - I realize "dear G-d, I haven't seen this animal since ages and I even didn't notice" but when I notice I miss their sounds and such a lot.

Thuderstorms, thunderstorms, and more thunderstoms... we got at least one per day, and today Sutur is unleashing hell over our heads. AND, on the top of that, Hurricane Matthew is coming our way :disgust:. The whole country will drawn like Lemuria if we continue this way.

Oh! nice woodpecker Krisi! Those birds are real fun to watch.

Best regards

Glad to hear you're fine so far, Loke!

A real hurricane must be awful indeed. I think we Europeans can't really imagine what this must be like.

Over here it's been raining for days now. This is going in many people's nerves but not on mine. I've never understood how one can let bad weather get on one's mood. It's getting a bit dangerous, though; the great amount of rain causes high water in some brooks and small rivers and it also fills some basements, but this is far from being really catastrophic weather.

Cheers!

Glad to hear!
Agree with Markus! We really don't know what it really is.
Even "little" and not destructive hurricans make us fear. Can't imagine how is to face this!
 >:(

It's a cool and rainy autumn day. Yesterday the weather was much better.

The weather is perfect for listening Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath and Black Sabbath - Sabbath bloody sabbath albums. Cloudy and fresh air, but is not cold neither hot. Suddenly some thunders in the sky, and some minutes of calmed rain.

What's a hell happens! When I heard it in the news, I thought about our community...

Here it's about +2 deg C, very windy and a bit wet. But anyway I have to stay home with the flu...
