Barcelona's Therion concert
« on: January 26, 2007, 09:10:46 pm »
I've no time to write now (you'll have to wait until Monday, at least), but I MUST say:

:wOOt: :wOOt: :yeha: :yeha: :wOOt: :wOOt:

I've a bunch of pictures which I'll post when I can. But nothing can be better than the experience of the concert itself. It has been the best metal concert I've been in (I've been in few, but even so...  :innocent: ). A lot better than the 2004 concert. It was AMAZING! The stage, the dresses, the singers, the songs... ALL!!!

As I've said, I'll post a full report the next week, but a few hints by now:

-Snowy Shaw has an incredible range of vocal registers, from the low-dark voice to the high-girlish one. And he performs all so well! He also is a fantastic showman in all senses: he jumps to the iron bar of the ceiling of the stage, he jumps down the stage near the public, he disguises himself in a... mmmh... particular way, etc etc, etc.

-Mats Léven sings, plays guitar and drums and perfectly connect with Snowy (both "showman" more than frontman, specially Snowy). And he has a wide range of vocal register too (I didn't know he was the singer of some songs until hearing them in live)

-The femenine singers are incredible too, and her voices are...  :wOOt:

-The stage is not a bare stage, but it has a lot of "scenografy" (I don't know if the word is correct).

-A last thing: with Sabaton and Grave digger, people was rather quiet (more or less depending on the moment, but not too much cheerful). With Therion, people got mad!!!! "The rise of Sodom and Gomorrah", for instance, made all people move like I've never seen before. And crowd was almost the double than the 2004 concert in the same venue. And a lot more than for first and even second bands (Grave Digger).

A full report to come!  :ninja:

Excellent, Luthy, and congrats for witnessing the event!

About The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah... the song might just have hypnotic properties. The crowd at the Bucharest event, so dead during the show, seemed to wake up to life during it!

Again, I'm glad you liked it, and don't let us wait too long for the full review....

Thanks Tequila!

Indeed: Thanks, Luthy,

for the review. Looking very much forward to the full version. :)

RoSaG has live qualities I wouldn't have expected after hearing the album version. Last time in Glauchau it gave the crowd a great boost, too.

Cheers!

Looks like people had fun... I'm looking forward to contacting the local promoters in some way to make something like this happen in here, and at last bring in some CULTURE!

Ok, some of the pictures. With no order and in low quality (my camera's fault). The photographer of 95% of the pictures is Xiquet. A full review to come!!!!  :yeha:

Is that... is that a book he's holding in one of the pictures?

What, singing came so naturally to him that he just had to catch up on his Necronomicon while he had the chance?

About the concert...

How I really don’t knew Therion before this concert... I can explain my experience talking about the whole concert (Sabaton, Grave Digger and Therion).

About Sabaton... in fact, I entered when his concert was started. His music sounds well... and I think that the people enjoyed with them.  :yeha:

About Grave Digger concert, I think that wasn’t very good... the guitar sounds was too low. Practically I only listened the drums, the bass and the singer... the guitar was only noise.. it was a pity...
I found his music a little poor... with only one guitar... a lot of noise and very poor of  “melody”.
His singer works well... but... they have to improve...  :bye:

And now is the turn of Therion.... really I’m not a fan of Therion...  :lol3: his music is very different in comparation with other bands that I usually listen... Probably this is the main reason because other people enjoyed it more than I this concert... :nosweat:

If you compare Sabaton or Grave Digger with Therion... it’s easy... you can’t compare... the distance is very big...

The concert started with a compact and power sound...  :yeha: with Kristian Niemann playing guitar easily... the singers with wide vocal registers... and a simple... but worked scenery.  :wOOt:
Yes, the scenery was simple... but simplely perfect... this move us into a “gothic time”... the gratins distributing the place of the singuers... black chandeliers... all in armony with their clothes... All the scene is simple, but well thought, and it is present in the whole concert.

Christofer Jhonsson, the leader of the group rest a lot of time in a second plane... him self enjoy with his music... it is very difficult take a photo of him seeing the fans... Very good in general

Johan Niemann, played well... he was very static in the scenery... practically he din’t change his position during the concert...

Mats Léven did a lot of things during all the concert... he sings, he plays the guitar... and plays the drums with Snowy... He activaly take part during all the concert. Very good...  ^_^

Finally Snowy... himself is an spectacle... very very good... he is the main point of atention during all the concert. He has a very wide range of vocals sounds... in certain ocasions her voice remembers me ‘Ian Gillan’... singer of Deep Purple...
His participation in the concert have had a great value.

I think that all fans of Therion have had the opportunity to enjoy with the best Therion...

While... I will follow discovering the rock... and the blues with Joe Bonamassa...  :drunk:

see you

Snowy

Great photos, Luthy!

I won't be able to take photos of "my" concert, they don't let cameras in, and my husband didn't get the permission. They told him: "Ask the tour manager!"
