Moonspell
« on: March 23, 2005, 10:20:06 am »
I was listening Moonspell yesterday a little. I didn't have time but they seem good to me.
I have two albums form 1994. I am not in home now so I don't know their names.
Do you like that band. How long do they play? Do they still play?
They toured with Therion one yearor better to say Therion toured with them.
Luthien I noticed that you have some of thir albums.

Yes, I have. I downloaded them all together...

I like it, but there's a thing that I don't like: growls, growls and growls. I can hear some growl, but too much make me be bored... so, I hear it very few.

I have seen Moonspell live in two occassions, and they have a very good show. Personally I prefer their early albums (especially Wolfheart)... althought their last CD is not bad.

´loooo

Well, yes, difinitely Wolfheart is the best, IMO.

I think that Fernando de Riveiro (leading vocals) has a pretty unique voice, when making the clear vocals as well as his growls, which they rule.
Here in my country they are worshiped by many local bands and many bands have given tributes to them...I love it when he speaks, in songs like "Vampiria" *drools*

I´ve seen them only once, but they´re playing here next friday with cradle of filth, and i´m gonna be there, of course!
Wolfheart is their best album iMO. Their newest albums are too electronic maybe, but MOONSPELL is a good band. ;)

Mmmm... that reminds me something.. Oh yes, Montréal 18th december 2003, a show featuring Blood of Christ, Necronomicon, Moonspell and CoF. Moonspell were SO good! they sounded even better than CoF which was supposed to be the main band of the show. Anyway, good luck JR!

Some years ago I'd say "Gothic Metal", but now-a-days gothic metal could mean anything... even those shitty MTV bands (Evanesence among others) singing PopRock and dressed in "vampires" are called "gothic".
So, basically I do not know anymore to what genre moonspell belongs.

Anyway, good luck JR!

Mmmmmhhhh they played only 35 minutes.
Something strange happen when after "In and Above Men" and "From Lowering Skies" they played "Alma Mater", "Wolfshade" and "Opium"... the best songs at the beggining of the show?  Then Fernando told that in other places they had 45 minutes, but that night only 30...
I´ve read at Moonspell´s forum that in all places is the same, only 30-45 minutes show. And ppl is angry...of course.

After that, one hour and a half of "Little Dani"´s CoF´s "new" songs... with not good sound at all -_-
No more CoF for me...

Not funny at all. In Montréal (where Moonspell played with Cof) they played 45 minutes, but the crowd was so happy that they let them play 10 more minutes. Too bad for you JR... did they play Vampiria? In Montréal's concert that was (by far) the best song of the show.
Concerning CoF, the story about the sound does not surpirse me at all. I've seen CoF twice and both times the sound was terrible... no more CoF for me either.

Yes, they played Vampiria; they made a medley with Alma Mater, Vampiria and Wolfshade. It´s a pity  :(  The Haunted started playing at the same time the doors get opened, so, people listened them while was queueing...we only saw the last song.

I've seen those guys live just once but it was a great show. I really liked the live sound of their songs, and one of the best things is, the growling parts. Fernando's growls are outstanding and all the concert moves between a lunar-wolf-growlin-gothic atmosphere!! I have some pics of that show, and most of all they are great human beings, i got a pic with Fernando and Ricardo (guitarist) at the end of the gig.

Yesterday I got other Moonspell albums. I am totaly dissapointed. They are bad.  :(
Under The Moonspell is great and Wolfheart is amaizing, Irrilegious is good too but not as first two albums.
I don't like other albums. Maybe I'll like Antidote. I need more time to listen Moonspell.

Does anyone have first couple of their singles or something (before Under the Moonspell)?

He-he... welcome to the club OFFman! I was too deeply disappointed when I listened to "Butterfly effect" for the first time. The antidote is not so bad, but if you want to keep a good impression of Moonspell, stick to thier first two albums ;)
