Hmmm, well, I may be TOTALLY off base here, but it MIGHT represent the A'arab Zaraq.  I mean, perhaps it symbolises the balance of Hod and  Netzach in every person (someone also mentioned human faces on the knees, which I can't see, these might represent Adam and Eve, who have an association w/ A'arab Zaraq).  Anyways, that's what I think it might be.  I know Therion has focused on that before, and it seems to make some sense.  If anyone has a better suggestion, or more support for this one, please post a reply.

Also, there is another copy of the same figure on the back of the case (lower right) and on the second to last right hand page (also on the lower right).

Nahuales can transform in anykind of animal

Nagual or Nahual (both pronounced [na'wal]) is a word used in the study of the religion, mythology, folklore and anthropology of Mesoamerican peoples and which is used with different definitions. It is related to the concept that certain persons are able to take on animal forms, which is present in many Mesoamerican cultures. It is also related to the equally common concept in Mesoamerican cultures of all persons having an animal companion to whom they are spiritually linked throughout their lives.

Hmm... the shape under the eye was the first thing I was wondering about when I bought the album.

But now - excuse me for one of my stupid questions  ;D - who is the man in the booklet?  ???
But then again, who does.

Hi Praha,

the bearded man depicted in the booklet is Johannes Bureus, a Swedish linguist and mystic on whose mystic ideas the whole album is based. The booklet artwork, I think, is also derived from his drawings. Karlsson is writing his doctor thesis on Bureus and his Gothic Kabbalah.

Cheers!
