Just picked up The Longest Journey Dreamfall.

Sort of like the old fashioned adventure games with the puzzles, dialogue and developed story lines. But they have also put combat and stealth in the game as well. Combat is pretty simplistic which is great for me considering that I have the maunual dexterity of a arthritic walrus.

Anyways ...  the world seems interesting with rituals, dark forces materializing out of the sky, specteral children  sending messages from beyond, a depressed purple robotic monky and all seeing Big Brother type corporations in the mix.

I just ran into my first major puzzle which resembles an old child's game called "aggrevation" and I can say with conviction that it still has the power to aggrevate me today.

Yet I shall overcome ....

(more  to come later after I have lost more hair and bittnen my nails further down)

Edit: Hail the Walrus !    :notworthy:   for he is victorious over the evil puzzle. And then also in personal combat.   woohoo

The Longest Journey was a great game to me. I don't know if I will like Dreamfall cause I like point and click advanture games without action.

Indeed, it was my search for a good quality "pure" adventure game that lead me to Dreamfall. But they seem to be a dying breed my friend. The volume and general quality has waned over the last few years.

Even the last previous good adventure game (Indigo Prophecy) was a hybrid. I think we'll see more of this trend going forward in order to pull more buyers into this style of game.

On the positive side, strong elements of the point and click are still there along with extended (long) full voice cut scenes that draw you into the story.

Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy for you USA people) is an excelent game to me! I really liked it, but it's not classic adventure game.

You should try Black Mirror, it is classic advenutre game not that old and if you like it try Nibiru!

I finally instelled one game after really really long period of not playing anything (which is very strange for me) and that game is Half-Life 2: Episode 1. Too bad it's too short!

I recently played F.E.A.R.

This is also too short.  And not enough happens.

So how long are these Half Life 2 Episodes?  I enjoyed Half Life and Half Life 2, but if the episodes are so short maybe I will not bother with them (or maybe I wait until they come down in price)

Ah.. Short games...That's why I prefer tjose that have multiplayer, or strategy games.
My personal favorites:
Age of Empires I,II,III (and their corresponding expansions, I can't play AoE III though)
Age of Mythology (and The Titans expansion)
Rise of Nations
Star Wars: Jedi Knight II. Jedi Outcast (my action favorite, after beating it, doing some of the missions is real fun, and the multiplayer is just great :D )
Incoming (The 1998 original)
I know these are all games from 1997-2003, but my graphics card is so sucky it can only support that, I have like 5 games that I haven't even been able to install because of this reason.

Too short. Maybe you should wait until they release all episodes. I guess there will be 3 episodes. I am not sure.

For what I've heard, you are right OFFman, it will be a trilogy. Has anyone here played the Da Vinci Code game yet?

Since August I am playing Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction again BUT this time on internet with my frineds, we installed unofficial mode called Hell Unleashed so we don't need original game to play online! And I also started to play Call of Duty 2 with some friends, interesting is that I am the youngest this time!  :)
