Dear Fans,
Today we have an announcement that will come as a shock to all of you. The four permanent
members of the band have had some discussions and it is clear that we have different
goals and visions for the future. Therefore it is best for the band, our selves as
individuals and for the fans that we go separate ways now when there is still plenty of
time before the next Therion album and World Tour.
This means that Christofer will continue with Therion and the others will perform their music in other projects and bands.
We're all still friends, no one is disappointed and there's still some work we have left
to do together in terms of editing of materials we have recorded for future DVD's.
Best regards to all of you and thank you so much for the wonderful support you have given
the band during the time we have played together.

Hi dear people!!!
This is also very sad news for all of us! And I wish all the best for Kristian Johan and Petter in the future! It has been a priviilage to have toured with those guys! I know it's a hard moment, but we got to try to look forward now!! Therion DESERVES to live on and continue! And it WILL! And if it's ANY comfort in this moment me, Snowy and Lori are still in the band. Speaking for me personally I still love to tour, I still love to get up on that stage and most of all I really enjoy to meet all the fans!!! You that have met me knows that I am not bullshitting when saying that! And you guys here at the forum, in the concerts wherever you are. I have the greatest respect for you!! (I can also speak for the other guys in that case) and we WILL meet again on tour!! If you dont think it's fun in your heart anymore I think that Petter and the Niemanns did the right thing! It would not be good for them or the band if they continue to play and their hearts were somewhere else. I wish them the best of luck in the future. And I send a big hug to all three of them!! And also an even bigger one to you!! The fans that stays true to Therion and have done that so many years!! Thank you from the heart!!

It is now official that Petter, Johan and Kristian has decided to leave Therion. It's no hard feelings at all involved in their decision. And it has been a great honor to play with those guys!!! Thank you guys and the best of luck in your future projects!! Even if it's hard, Therion deserves to live on and it will do so!!! And we will do the Plock festival in Poland! That means th ePolish fans will be the first ones to see a new (maybee temporary)line up!! We will do the best we can for the fans!!

I'm shocked as well...
But at least, they are still friends.
And I'm hoping that within 20 years or less, there is a reunion tour. These guys marked what so far has been Therion's Golden Era.

Whatever is about to happen.. I will never stop supporting and loving and adoring and being crazy about THERION! And whatever and however they will decide I will not stop supporting them with their decisions! They gave me so much and although I do not know about all the previous memebers I will defenitely pay attention on what is going on with Petter, Johan and Kristian because they are one of the top musicians and they deserve all the best in future! :wub:

When I read the title and first line... for a moment I thought they were going to break! Luckily it's not so bad... although bad enough... I am a Therion fan from not so long ago (only 4 years..), so I only know this line up, with the changing singers and guests, of course. I feel a shock... but I suppose it's not an end, only a new beginning. So I wish :bawl:

I'm a fan for about 7 years now I think :unsure:
Was on first concert in Slovenia 2004. (I believe)
Therion Society member since beginning of 2005 (today a veteran member)
2005. Zadar concert that blew up
2 concerts in Zagreb in 2007. + one in Budapest (was in backstage on all)
It just won't be the same...
But I guess.. The most important of all...
I have meet so many just fantastic people through Therion :wub:
And that I still have, no mater of condition of Therion

+ 1 !!! No Therion - No meeting all of you and I even got closer to those I have known for years but never found smth in common!
We shouldn't be pesimistic about the future! I am sure that Chris will do his best do find someone just as good as they are even though this will be probably the hardest task in his life.

Petter's songs on GK are really the worst ones, and I prefer Chis' writing songs.
I'm really sad about Kristian and Johan, though. :(

I supose you refer to the physycal phase, not the musical. But if you refer to the musical phase, it is of course impossible. It would be against Therion Natura to do it.
It is very subjective and quite sensible to catalog Petter's songs on GK as "The worst ones".

I will miss Kristian and Johan. :( But what puzzles me the most now is Christofer's head. What is going on in there? What "goals and visions for the future" he has?

Nova rock concert special

Opeth performed 5 songs at the Nova Rock festival (Austria) with guest bass player, Johan Niemann (Therion, Demonoid) filling in for Martin Mendez, who had the day off catering to the needs of his girlfriend and new born son. The setlist: Demon of the fall, Baying of the hounds, Masters apprentices, Heir apparent & The Drapery falls.

Well, that's cool to hear. Johan Niemann with Opeth... It'd be cool to hear that! Johan has a great playing style IMO, very suited for Progressive music. I guess it's influences like King Crimson! :biggrin:

That's good news "old" Therion members entering great bands... a pity I don't like Opeth too much. I know a lot of Therion fans like it, as it has some similar caracteritics... but it's too death for me.
Anyway, that's good for Johan!! :wOOt:
