No, it's very far from here. This disaster could have been prevented. So many dead or injured people, ruined homes without a reason.

Yep, I also thought of you, Lucy, when I heard the news, but well, it's "good" to know that you or your family are not directly affected. ... But, man, it's terrible anyway!

Now, the thing is that we are not killing our planet, the planet has and will survive things far worst than human "progress" and stupidity. The only thing we are gonna kill is ourselves (and sadly some thousands of species will follow), but the planet will remain there, turning around the Sun. Then, evolution will start from scratch once again and probably will give rise to something smarter than us

Now it's all over our news, too. Really terrible.

As I understand it the first damage has been done by the actual flood due to the dam breaking. But the toxic substances will keep the injured busy for weeks at least, and the region will suffer for months or even years to come.

Let's hope that they manage to cut the losses.

I am so sorry to hear about it. This is really terrible. It was a mistake that could been prevented so easily...

I hate big corporations and their greed for money money money... If they spared a bit of their money... it would not happen. Just saw it on the google Earth

Poor people from Kolontár and Ajka - and of course, many other towns around

So much dead animals and people...

Sounds maybe strange but - I am glad that that Budapest is "higher" placed than this - so the Dunaj is being contaminated "under it" still "near" the Kolontár and Ajka is Balaton
