Hi Eve,

admittedly, I make my own bread as well. I use a plain oven, though, and as I mentioned in the shoutbox I consider yeast a newfangled knickknack. :lol3: I do my bread the same way it has been done for millennia, with sourdough. Ever tried that technique?

Cheers!

Hi Markus,

I never tried baking bread with sourdough, just yeast.  And I use the bread machine for baking regular bread.  Sometimes I bake sweet breads using a box mix, and I'll use the normal oven for that.  According to the wiki, yeast has been used for baking bread for centuries...  beginning with the Egyptians.

Hi Eve,

that can't refer to bakers' yeast, only to remnants from the beer production - that is, wild yeast again, just as in sourdough. Of course there are other reasons to try sourdough: It's tastier, keeps the bread longer fresh, and there's even a health aspect. And it's much more fun if you ask me. :) Oh, and have I mentioned that it's really, really tastier?

Cheers!
