BTW, contrary to popular belief "Moin" does not derive from "Morgen!", which is short for "Guten Morgen" but means "Good".

Btw, Markus, I'm curious... How about you? Do you speak any certain dialect? Is it Markusih? Notessomish? How is your usual "Guten Morgen" or "Hallo"?

Oh Regina Mala Mea,

here you can find the etymology of "Moin" meaning "good". But then again, the German wiki-page says that the real etymology is not clear and that some serious researchers suppose "Moin" to be derived from "Morgen".

I do speak Markusish - how did you guess?

That's very close to High German but you can hear some traces of the dialect of my hometown. Like "ooch" instead of "auch", "kannste" for "kannst Du" etc. No special greetings, though: "Guten Morgen" or "Morjen!", "Hallo" or perhaps "Tach!" for a very brief and casual "Guten Tag". But mostly a friendly informal "Hallo" or a friendly formal "Guten Tag" - unless you're a friend of mine, in which case you get a hug.

Oh, what I forgot is the third element of Markusish: Besides being almost High German, yet with an audible influence from my hometown, Markusish is also characterised by complicated, unusual and exotic terms. As in: "Morjen! Hoffentlich leidet keiner von Euch unter Paraskavedekatriaphobie?"

Gute Idee - das kannste machen! Zum Beispiel kannste statt "Ich weiß es auch nicht" sagen: "Ich weeß es doch ooch nich!"

Ok, for first time here, I'll use this forum to something serious and useful for me, not just kidding and joking.

I'm looking for a word, as I must say something about me in class. And I've been looking for the german word of "metal music", but I'm not sure of the exact translation. In one dictionary, it says "heavy metal" but, of course, heavy metal is only a part of metal music. In another one it says Blechbläser, but I'm not sure... as in another one, it says that Blechbläser is the "person who plays with a metal instrument".

Ok, Markus, can you help me, please? How is "metal (music)" in German, bitte!!!!!!
