Strong from all the successor-lifting? Cat-chasing? Snow-pushing? :wOOt:

Ummm... may I be impolitely curious and ask from which direction you've reached that weight?

Cheers!

Exactly, strong from all Homestead activities like eating... and the like.

I'm reaching it from a certain decisive indirection...

Ah, I see, Lucy!

Well, wait - actually, I don't. :lol3: But all I really want to know is: Are you feeling fine? :)

(What I want to know besides that is the recipes for traditionally Homesteadean cooking and when the bees are coming in.)

Cheers!

I meant to say yes, I am fine! :) It's strange because I have gained some weight, so I should feel bad about it? At least women are used to feel so. It's not easy to decide what to think.

The bees are going to arrive when the spring is warmer. Now they shouldn't be carried. :)

Thus, the High Priest of Notessomes consulted Her Holy Oracle, which replied: So what? 's long as you're feeling and doing fine...

Hey folks,

I'm feeling a bit sickish - struggling with a light infection since Monday - but that's not really encumbering me; it only sucks that I better not go to the gym this week. But I used the time differently and thus I feel equipped for spring now: Bought a few polos and short-sleeved shirts yesterday and invested in a new light jacket for spring and autumn. :yeha:

Cheers!

Get some warm ginger tea with lime and honey :)

I hope you'll be feeling well soon!

Oh, I don't like shopping but I love to wear new clothes  I share your enthusiasm.
But then again, who does.

Hey folks,

thanks a lot, my Evil Queen, but Agnes needs thy aid more than I do. My little bit sickness is nothing but a minor nuisance, after all.

Yeah, I only go shopping for clothes when I have to because I need some new ones urgently. :lol3: I'm glad when I find some that make me look good, but that's it then - I really won't go shopping for fun merely.

Now my office day is about to start...

Cheers!

Handsome, proud, vain and decadent.

I've been shopping for clothes in the spirit of "Prices don't matter - just make me look good". I think I got good stuff, but I left a small salary in that store. But then again, the biggest part was paid for an expensive suit, and I think it looks pretty good on me and I expect it to last for years to come.

Cheers!

It's almost black. I'll be wearing it for Dad's birthday on Wednesday and I'll make sure to get a photo. :)

I'm not sure if that's the right thread, but I didn't want to open a new one. So, let's say I feel WORRIED:

Today, the PISA test results have been announced. That's a test made to 15-years old though the world, about different subjects (Maths and Languages, as far as I know). I'm not surprised to know that Spanish youngsters are below the average, with worse results that previous years... what have scared me is that I've taken a sample test on Maths (you can try clicking here), and now I know which is the demanded level...

Let's say I'm not fond in Maths, and I've never been. I've always liked more Language. I was very very glad when I said "good bye" to Maths at 16 years-old. And I always had problems with Maths, at least in High School (while I had it as a subject). So, you might expect me having some problem with those questions, after almost 20 years without studying it at school (god, I'm old...), right? Nope. All correct, all ok at first try. I don't see any difficulty, and I don't think you have to know any real Maths... only to have a little of logic!

Are youngs of 15-years old failing those questions? Here and in all the world? I think the World educational system must change now, or there'll be serious problems very soon...  :bawl:

EDIT: I've made more questions from another sample (in Spanish), and I've failed two, which I think are really more difficult. One of them, only 25% of the students have answered correctly, and the second one, only the 2% (I failed because to solve it, you need to calculate the diameter of a circle, and I know it was not difficult, but I don't remember after all those years). But there's still too low level for that age...  :afaid:

Hey Luth,

the latest PISA study is a big topic in Germany, too. The media are quite positive about it because Germany has improved clearly. I've seen some example questions and they were ridiculously simple.

Generally speaking: Yes, it seems to me like the generations growing up now are dumber than we used to be. Also it's getting more difficult to find capable employees with sufficient basic skills in reading, writing and calculating (I won't even speak of actual maths).

But then again I'm aware that the demands are growing and that there are less youths today than there used to be. Also a lot of grown-ups are incredibly incapable, and on the other side I know of well-educated, intelligent youths. So I keep some hope that people aren't really getting even dumber than they used to be, anyway. :fish:

Still, a good education remains a very important challenge.

Cheers!
