Yup! it's my first time (all 5s in one semester)

The last 5 was the most difficult to get. The lady doesn't give 5s. everyone else had max. 4,5.. I asked her if she could give me 5 (I need it to get a scholarship). My pros where: I was at all the lectures (which are not obligatory), I wrote 2 good complaints (we had to write them), and for the first one she said that my grade will be higher because I wrote the complaint in a week, I think I wrote the exam quite well. She looked at me..she said "oh..that's you, you sure you don't want 4,5?" I said: With 5.0 I have a higher chance to get the scholarship. She wrote 5 in my record and said it's the only 5 on the year.

I said thank you and left my record in dean's office

So she made a big exception, Agnes - and I'm sure she didn't make it just because she likes your nose (as the saying goes in Germany) but because she sees a good reason - because you deserve it.

So now we all should cross our fingers for you to get that scholarship?

@Markus: Yes!

but the time when we should apply for a scholarship is October. They used to *decide* who gets the scholarship is November or even December (too long, lazy people in dean's office).. well for sure keep fingers crossed in late October or IMO, November. Thanks

And now I have 3 months of doing nothing! Until I find a job which satisfies me

Mixed... I had a long walk with the cuddly predator through the forest this afternoon, which felt great.

But on my way to work I read in the newspaper that Prof. Reichstein from Halle has deceased. That struck me, even though we've never been really close. Many years ago I heard lessons in planetology by him. He was an aged man even back then, but just like a child he could be happy about and marveling at something he'd dug up from the NASA or ESA webpages. An open, ever curious mind, more so than many youngsters. I've always admired him for that.

Over the last years I haven't had any contact to him because I hardly ever had the time to visit my astronomers' society. Last Thursday Prof. Reichstein died.

I am very sorry to read such news, Markus

I think that I would be myself very sad also. It is always a horrible pity for the whole world when such great people die. Especially I understand it from the point of view that I am myself happy as a child anytime I read some news from such institutions like You mentioned. It is very unsual even for scientist to keep their minds fresh and be still the same interested even after 60 years of doing the job.

I believe his life must had been very happy in a way - cause so many new discoveries and space exploration has been done in last 50 years :-) So many things that surely his brain had to be amazed every single day! :-)

I feel happy!

Reasons:

1. Today I'm celebrating 4 years with my boyfriend

2. Yesterday I got info that I have the highest grade average on my year. It means I will get the highest scholarship which is 500PLN per month

About the scholarship: Also big congratulations!

Though I have to say that ... well, if I had best grades - I would be given 1600 PLN for whole year. :-) That's really ridiculous. (And funnily - that is exactly the same amount you pay when you already have to pay for the school...)

i am very happy. scholarship will be paid in 10 months, it gives us 5000PLN then in the end :-) btw. we've signed all necessary documents, some of them are notarised, the bank has paid the first tranche to the developer for our flat! we should move to our new place before the end of June 2014. :-)
