Title: NTSMS Paella
Post by: Markus on March 20, 2006, 10:36:11 am
Hi folks,

as you may have read in the shoutbox we acquired some rare anglerfish filet, and Luth agreed to make Paella from it for all of us. :iconmi77kl: (I'm not sure if Aluqak will enjoy this special meal a lot, but oh well...)

So what else do we need? I can add some Saffron for the Paella from my private collection. There will be cookies for dessert, of course. Luth suggested Sangria as a drink. Is that a good idea? Over here you mainly get cheap sweet wines with some orange juice served as "Sangria", with a few fruit chunks if you're lucky. What's the real stuff like? What else do we need?

Cheers!

Markus

I'll let Virus bring the Romanian cheese.

He's behind the sofa!

The ultra-sharp Japanese kitchen-blade whirls again.

Here, Luth, some more filets! The paella can't be big enough, in case Aluqak shows up.

Cheers!

Ey Aluqak... would you be soooo kind to enter the paella to... ehhr... to put the rice? yes, here, just in the middle. Don't worry, it's not too heat (yet). Yes, yes, this way... if you're so kind, now, to lay on the paella and put some rice over you...

Hey Luth,

pour some wine on top of him! I don't think that'll harm the taste of the paella, and I bet Aluqak won't even want to leave the pan when there's wine in there.

Cheers!

A hungry Markus

Well, no problem... I have rice enough for a second paella, and this time we'll keep Aluqak far from wine, right Markus?

I suggest we use the filets I have cut off the fishy earlier today. They are puke-proof. We don't want to eat his big teathy mouth, anyway, do we?

So go for anglerfish-filet-paella!  :iconmi77kl:

Oh, and you wanted to explain about real Sangria. :)

Cheers!

Ok Markus, the filets you have will be enough by now. About the Sangria... well, I'm not an expert, but the more "usual" sangria is made of red wine and oranjuice, with little pieces of fruits on it. Another type of sangria is the same but with champagne instead wine (or "cava", the catalan -and very good- kind of champagne in Catalonia). Of course, you don't need a very quality wine or champagne for that! And, there is people who likes to include different alcoholic drinks besides the wine... all depends on the taste and the drinking tradition of the "chef"! (it can be terrible to taste one of that "sangria").

Ah! I almost forget! It has to be cold, better in summer. It use to be served with ice glasses inside.

Anyone wish a sangria's glass?  :iconmi77kl:

Hi there,

Sangria sounds much like the German "Bowle" (spoken "boh-leh", if that helps, with 'o' as in "goal" and 'e' as in "set"). That is based on white wine and sparkling wine with pieces of fruits like peaches, mandarines or melons. Classically you soak the fruits in the white wine over night or longer, then fill up with the sparkling wine. There are gazillions of different recipes, though. Some require you to soak the fruits in stronger alcohol like wodka....

Oh, and then there's Glühwein - mulled claret. Another Sangria relative: Red wine with added spices, heated up. Sometimes served with fruits, too, or with stronger drinks added - very popular in winter and especially before Christmas.

But as we're in Spain I'd prefer the Sangria now. :w00t: Is the word related to "blood" in any way?

And Luth, you'll always remain our English killer #1, even when your English will be better than that of the queen. Of the queen of England, that is. (Probably we'll have to get Her Majesty Elsbeth very, very drunk for that...)

Is there some of that yummy anglerfish-filet-paella left? I'd dearly like another plate...

Cheers!

Markus

Yes, the name is related to "blood", because of the red wine.

Romanian people have some kind of Sangria too, but without the fruits: red wine with honey and cinnamon, served hot. Again, during winter.

Who's Her Majesty Elsbeth? I hope not me, I'm not Elsbeth  :afraid1:

Namarie!

Considering the fact that his favourite material seems to be C4 (at least as long as he doesn't get hold of a larger amount of uranium), I think he doesn't put as much value in the happiness of his subjects as you may do. He will be quite contended as Rex Influenzae, and honestly speaking: He has chosen that name himself, whether he knows it or not.

Cheers!
