Title: Lemuria/Sirius B
Post by: Luth on October 27, 2004, 03:21:03 pm: I know Sirius13 considers both as the same album, but I don't. So, please, post here which is your favourite one and tell us why.

I vote for Lemuria: Sirius B is good in the whole album, but has no more important songs (all good; no one, or almost, best than the others) . Lemuria, IMO, is good as a whole and has some songs that are near the perfection: Typhon, Lemuria, An Arrow from the Sun...

Sirius B also has good songl like Melek Taus and Son of the Sun, but there's just something that doesn't make it excellent, I don't know what, but there's just something...

But I can separate them easily. My vote goes to Lemuria, it simply follows a more dangerous, braver musical path. I loved hearing Chris sing again, I loved a bit of a return to the "edge" that IMHO was somehow lost after Theli. I love also that it is so multi-dimensional, incorporating the beautiful title track to contrast with the darker tunes.

Sirius B is great, there are fantastic songs within, but on its own it cannot quite compete with SotR, Theli or Deggial.

Lemuria however I believe competes in its own right, it has its own unique flavour which lifts it up high alongside SotR, T & D.

...add together Lemuria and Sirius B, consider them as one - and now you see why I think they are invincible!! :D

PS That's a cool avatar Carlios! If I had to vote to choose best Avatar I'd be stuck between that of Manolo and that of Carlios. I could not choose...

I feel bad prefering one more than the other :( to me they are both great! but since I must make a choice I vote for Lemuria and the reason is because it contains Three Ships of Berik which I think is the best song of both Albums...mmm :rolleyes: although Persephone is cool too ... :P mmmm this is a hard question!

I don't know, but everytime I see the cat Manolo has on his avatar, I just couldn't help but laugh, it's so funny...

I find Lemuria to be more akin with previous albums, nothing too over the edge, but IMO Sirius B seems a little more experimental, like the first steps towards something totally new, like Ho Drakon, Ho Megas and Lepaca Kliffoth were the first steps towards the style Therion has nowadays... that's what I think...

First time I heard albums Lemuria was better for me becouse of Typhon and Lemuria.
Then I listened Dark Venus Persephone, Kali Yuga 1 and 2. And then Sirius was better to me.
And then I was listening An Arrow From The Sun and Feuer Overtüre/Prometheus entfesselt and then
Lemuria was better for me. Now I am listening Call of Dagon and Voyage of Gurdjieff (The Fourth Way)
so Sirius is better for me. Tomorow who knows...

However, Sirus B is little bit more complex and experimental (I belive), you have to listen to it a few times before saying: Yes, I like it (or not).
And yes, Blood of Kingu, Melek Taus and Sirus B make the difference for me.

Typhon and Uthark Runa are great; Three Ships Of Berik and Lemuria are excellent (I really like Piotr´s work on it)...but Quetzalcoatl...doesn´t convince me yet. The rest is good but maybe i would change the songs order.

@Iza: But Mats doesn't sing on Typhon :huh: And you forget The Khlysti Evangelist (which just rules and competes to be the best song on Sirius B together with Blood of Kingu) and Kali Yuga part 2

In Lemuria my favourites are: typhon, three ships of berik, lemuria, an arrow from the sun and abraxas... but in siriusb there are also blood of kingu, the khlysti evangelist, kali yuga 2, The wonderous world of Punt and the voyage of gurdjeff...

I'm totally new here, but everyone has to start somewhere.
I think Sirius B is better (not much). If we just take the masterpiece: Voyage of Gurdjieff, we can see a wide palette of musical solutions. It begins with a wonderful intro, then follows the proposition of the theme. I don't say versa, because there is no difference between the tenseness of the two reoccuring parts of the song. And if you listen carefully, the little run-down on the electric organ is wonderful in zthis part. And to say no more: The solo. Well it speaks for itself.
And there's the Wonderous world of Punt, where there are breathtakingly good parts with the organ. Not to talk about the choir and the melody...(Mmmmm)
And there's the second part of Kali Yuga. It's a proper praise to the great godess.

Further more, one can learn a lot from the lyrics (as usual.).

:party43: sirius b has just got a bit more about it, u cn really get a kick out of songs like Kali Yuga, blood of kingu and Voyage of wotshisface! lemura is real gud, espec uthark runa (big fan of oriental and arabesque melodies :) )
