Title: Therion Live!

What with the tour and all that, anyone seen them live yet? Anyone going to see them soon?

Tell all!! :D

I live a long way from London, but I'm working on it! I hope to see them on the 16th of Nov, but nothing is confirmed for me yet.

I've seen quite a few bands in my time, but never before have I seen Therion.

So what about you lot then?!

Therion was here August 28 and all I can say is: WOW! :D I had 1:30 hours of non stop Therion that penetrates deep into ur bones! This guys are amazing when playing live! Even though they don´t travel with a full orchestra they sound exactly as they do on their cd´s! U are up for an experience you will never forget! It´s been almost 2 months since I saw them play but I still feel the energy!!!
Matt is amazing when he sings! and not to mention the rest of band. I will never forget this experience , this has been the BEST concert ever!!! :lol: My dream come true *sigh*.

So, I'm very lucky they would come to Barcelona when I've just begin hearing them (half year is not too much, although I'm thinking how it can be I didn't know before). When I'll go to the concert, I'll report it, of course!! :D

:) I saw them last august 27 in guadalajara mexico,i travelled 500 kms in order to see them,words can not explain what i felt and how i enjoyed the concert,and it is true that even they don´t have the full orchestra you don´t miss it,because the singers including of course mat levens are amazing!!!!!really the show is out of this world believe me so....... fot those about to rock with therion i salute you.....and envy you. ENJOY IT AND STAY HEAVY!!!!!!

I have just seen them. Gosh, it was so amazing! We ended up in the fromt row, right before Chris. The guys do play with their audience - they grin right into your face, give you the thumbs-up or the horned greeting. Hey, it felt like "Bang your head with Christopher Johnsson" at times!

During the "Siren" Chris made some gestures to the audience asking to hold up lighters. We were the first to do so - You could see he enjoyed that. You could see that they all enjoyed the show.

I even got some souvenirs: Picks from Chris and Kristian and lots of signatures on my L/SB.

OK, and now I´ll just drop to bed.

first I went to the airport and took some picture with all the band that was awesome..I talk with them between 10 or 15 min. (I think)...and I told to johan this "you know to day is going to play JAMES DIO " ..jajajaja that was funny because kristian and johan seems to couldn't believe it.......well ..I' ll never forgett that moment....... :D (thanks you guys for those minutes!!!!)
and the next day was the concert......well..it was the best concert of mi life...

But, when I am finnally out of the house (only 15 now) I hope to move to Norway or germany, so if they are still playing then. Hopefully I will see them.

And Luthien: Prepare for an aching neck all over the weekend! And rehearse the lyrics once more, especially the parts in weird languages.

Oh, I think my lyrics memory is so baaaad! I can hardly remember some chorus, and certain parts, but almost nothing! And, about weird languages... I will destroy some song sing in german... (excuse me Markus :P ) and an akkadian one. But I'll sing loud, even when I'll invent whole lyrics! :lol:

Tonight Rick will be in the concert... and I'll be there in 3 days!!! UAAAAAAARRRGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need time pass quick!!!!!!

I didn't know just Schwarzalbenheim. It's too hard for me. The best songs were those from Vovin and Theli.
I was singing Siren of the Woods. Do you know lyrics for that song? As I wrote somewhere; tears came to my

Petter did a drum solo & Karen sang solo for us! All in the dark! :ph34r:

( :blush: new smilies. Just wanted to try the blush!)

Anyway, when it became clear that the concert couldn't continue everyone left, and me and my work colleague (I dragged him along too!) popped round the back of the venue to see if anyone was there. Sure enough, Chris, Kristian, Petter and Karen were all there, and very few other fans had thought of going round the back! So I got to chat with Chris and Kristian for quite a while and all four signed my SiriusB/Lemuria CD!! (a big thanks to Markus for the tip to take it along to the gig!) :D

Chris told me about the Slovenian police recovering his guitar, and we chatted a bit about musical tastes (he grew up in the same era as me, so we like a lot of the same stuff), a bit about the site and the tour (I'm sorry I forgot to mention NTSMS! :blush: - [didn't think I'd need that so soon!])...

Kristian was very chatty too, we talked about the tour, English crowds and crowds across Europe, his solos and how great a guitarist I think he is! :D

All were real friendly and down to earth, and I think the power cut meant they had more time to chat! :D

You'll have a great time Luth, and don't forget to take your CD!! ...I don't know about Barcelona, but in London they were happy for people to take cameras into the gig. (I forgot to take mine :blush: )

Now I can explain you the Barcelona's concert. First of all, I think Trail of Tears didn't play, 'cause we enter to local at 8:30, when was supposed to begirn first show, and Tristania played. When finished, I thought Trail was the next one and, what a GREAT suprise when I saw Therion on the stage!! All the concert was fantastic, no noticeable power or music problems, all right. The power of Therion envolve us and make me move as an hipnotized. All songs were great, although some as Blood of Kingu, Typhon, Rise of Sodoma and Gomorrah, The Invincible (etc...) and, of course! Siren of the Woods were amazingly the best! The covers were incredible, too, specially Iron Fist... I only can bow them!!! Of course, Mats ever conducting the public, and the fantastic synthony between bandmembers (specially Mats and Chris), and the soprano ... ALL!!!

I was not too close from the stage, maybe in row 10. I had not the better seeing possible, but I jump and kill who was in front of me when necessary :ph34r: . I only took a few pictures (yes, my camera hidden...), and are not good because I took the pics without knowing excatly where to point. Maybe I'll post the better ones, one or two...from the concert. (And if I solve some problem about the size, I'll post my pics with them, too! :blush: )

After it, we went to wait for bandmembers leaving the local. I have Christofer, Kristian, Mats and Johan signatures, and Chris, Johan and Mats pics! All what I've heard about they were exceptionally kind and ager to talk with fans, and signing and making pictures with them, was true. Is so good to see they are so damned good on the scenary and so "humans" when are with you!

I talked a few words with Mats and Chris... About my words with Chris, see restricted area :ph34r: . But then, after the sig and pic, he asked me something I didn't understand in that moment: he asked me if this was my "mail name". I said no, because "Luthien" is not my mail name, but now I think he refered to "nick name". So, maybe now he thinks my name is Luthien. :blink:

When I went from the concert, I was thinking " it is true, is not a dream" :P It was really a incredibe experience, from the beguinning to the end.

Therion is great!!

TWICE !!!!

In Paris and Toulouse !!!!!!!!!!

It was really a great moment but i have no word to describe it ....

All songs were terrific, but i founded The Khlysti evangelist really not as good as the album version (less guitar, weaker version) but the rest was terrific.

I moved more in Paris than in Toulouse cause Paris was the first time, and i really enjoyed Seven secrets and Rise live, those two maked me mad !!

In Paris Chris dedicated my T-shirt and my ticket, and in Toulouse i offered him a bottle of wine, took a pic with him, and chat with for a while.

Here's my story.

One day i'll make their european first part !!!!!!!! (With you MegaCharles, Persephone !)

Post by: Cygny on January 10, 2005, 10:48:30 pm: I saw Therion live at Graspop Festival in June (first performance ever with Mats) and the in October when they were headline in Hof ter Loo in Antwerpen. And I can say that seeing them twice was still too little and I'll definitely go see them in the future at every chance I will get. If they do the next tour, I think I'll go in Belgium, in Lille and possibly in the Netherlands as well :D Am addicted :wub:

Going to a concert in April, with Mats singing as well. Am quite eager to see if his performance will match the one he gave with Therion, even if the songs won't be able to match Therion's :)

Post by: Tiggi on March 13, 2005, 08:34:28 am: Meanwhile I´ve seen Therion three times - March 2000, Dezember 2001(or 2002 don´t know exactly) and November 2004 in Vienna/Planet Music. Three awesome gigs, one better than the other, but the greatest was the gig in 2004 because they played "Sirens" - amazing :)
I´m praying every day that the scheduled show with orchestra in November 2005 at the Austria Centre Vienna comes true and dream of hearing "Calvicula Nox" that time :rolleyes: I hope Therion uses this special show to record a life DVD B)

What I know is that no live DVD, but maybe yes a CD. Sad for those who won't be there, but I suppose that it would make the concert even more expensive that what it's already is. -_-

I don't think anyone would've minded :P their performance is just flawless... i still have chills when i think of it

I have just arrived from the show and I have to write this down before I forget the set list... and just to let the adrenaline go down a little bit.
Sorry no pics, the guys at the entrance were a bunch of jerks a did not allow me to get my camera in :(. But you'll get my review :).

First part:
The show started at 7:30 with Liva, a Québec band playing some kind of symphonic metal. I have always liked Liva, and they played well... but they were a little bit cold for my liking...
They played for about 40 min a that was it.

Second Part: At 8:30 the scene was blasted by Beyond the Embrance a band from Massachussets (I know, it is surely not well written, sorry for that). I did not know them, they played well and did a good job to warm up the crowd. However, I'm sure that I'll not remeber this band in a week or so.

Third Part: At 9:30 and after four beers (Yes, we did get beer in our venue :D), Therion get into the scene in a very high spirit. The setlist was something like this (the order could be wrong though):
The Blood of Kingu
Uthark Runa
The Invocation of Naamah
Riders of Theli :D (I got mad in this one!)

Forth part: A short wait in backdoor of the venue and then we got a small chat with Chris, he signed some of my booklets, and then we (he) talked about the present tour, the past South American tour, the upcoming shows and the permits to work in the US.

Bad points of the night:
The fat guys at the entrance (more jerk?... impossible)
No song for the first three albums
No Desert of Set :(
Could not talk to the other band members... man, I would really like to chat with Kristian

Good points of the show:
The sound was very-very-very good
The crowd was amazing (very happy live in this town today :))
and the beer was not expensive.
Overall one of the top three concerts of my life.
To bad that I had to wait for 8 years... but it worth it and it's done now.

Then I had to run to catch the last bus to get home and write this review to you. Enjoy, I'm going to get some sleep.

Post by: Aluqak on September 13, 2005, 02:21:55 pm: Yes, Mats was pretty touched. Actually it was Christofer's idea, there were few people in the crowd who knew that it was Mats B-day. So he asked us to sing Happy B-day in French and we did. Mats seemed to enjoy it and even tried to speak some French, but at the end he was only able to say "Merci Beaucoup".

@ Eresh: Thanks, I'm happy to "hear" that you liked my review. I have always liked to become a reviewer, but I'm not sure that I'll have the time to write one every time I see a show. Even worse, most of the time I don't know the bands I'm seeing as well as I know Therion, so I would n't be able to do a job as good as I did with Therion.

Cool, seeing Therion live is the greatest thing you can do! If you want, you can post some pics here, no problem with the "no legal" thinghy. The taking of pics is forbidden by the place of the concert, but I've posted illegal pics too... :ph34r: About the video, there's a page: Yousendit (http://yousendit.com). You can upload the file for whoever who want to have it, available for a week, or you can write the mail of a person and this person will be able to download it. You can use it if you wish :lol:
