Title: Photos
Post by: Persephone on September 27, 2010, 08:27:22 pm
Here are the pics I took near the city where my bf used to live and was born. It's a near village called Křenov. :)

Links are from facebook and actually I really did not do anything to make the pics look better (like more light etc...). So they are not anything extra :)

Trutnov:

The interesting car in Trutnov :D Welcome to NDR  :evil2:

Some nice sculputers in front of the new modern Theatre on one of the Trutnov squares. Everybody liked these Magrays!

Žižka's trophy :) The more I was taking pics of her and making a video the more she was playing with the mouse and in the end she brought me the mouse to take a pic of her trophy :)

Now about Žižka :). She's a wandering cat who simply lives wild way and people in the village (especially the parents and grandparents of my bf) give her some food in front of the cottage and made some little house for her. She's now with kittens again. x) She has so cute belly with little fluffy balls inside
As You might notice she has only one eye. As she is wild she often have to fight with the tomcats etc... and probably in one of the fights her eye was hurt and she got infection inside but as far as they told me it's many years ago and when they found her and brought her to veterinian the eye wasn't already to save anymore :(
This is why we call her Žižka despite the fact that Žižka is male surname coming from Czech history. We call her after this brave Hussite commander Jan Žižka z Trocnova a Kalicha - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_%C5%BDi%C5%BEka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_%C5%BDi%C5%BEka). In one of his battles he lost one of his eyes and he was very very famous for that... (later in another battle he lost the second eye too). I bet that in any pic around the web You'll find his pics with patch in front of his one eye! :)

Great pics, Kris! Thank you. :)

Too many at once to comment all photos that deserve to be commented... The car is a "Trabbi" (actually "Trabant"), a famous car from the GDR. The aronia leaves have an amazing colour! The opulent unknown flowers are Dahlias. And the strawflower / immortelle is beautiful, too. We have similar ones in our garden this year, coloured a very sunny yellow, and of course I snatched a couple of blossoms, too...

Thank you and cheers!

I knew, Markus, You will tell me the names of the flowers  :fish:  :wOOt: Thank You! Yes... Trabant. It's very famous car around the world but here in cz especially I guess.

Few years ago You could met them in bazaars for 40 Euro  but with time their price got higher cause of the simple thing - many people tend to collect them. Otherwise it's just a tin can :D So now they cost usually about 280 Euro.

We have a joke on it that if You fill the engine tank full the car has double price

Oh yes, Žižka is wonderful x) I am happy she was there and  could eat from our good meat :D
Title: Re: Photos
Post by: Lucy on September 28, 2010, 08:23:05 am
Tin can... :D I thought it was made of paper. I can still hear the voice of the engine... Better to say, the exhaust pipe.
Title: Re: Photos
Post by: Persephone on September 28, 2010, 08:31:56 am
:D Despite the fact I like that car cause many owners (especially young people!  ) But the car and make many fixes on it, and bring it to good state and fine design - like with this blue/flowered one :) ... Once I saw Trabant overtaking Maserati on the motorway  :lol3: It must have had a motor of some even more fine car than Maserati.
Title: Re: Photos
Post by: Markus on September 28, 2010, 09:36:39 am
Hehe...

The trabbi is definitely not a tin can. It's more of a plastic box but it was well known as "Pappe" ("cardboard") or "Rennpappe" ("racing cardboard"). :lol3: And we had the same joke over here, Kris: How do you double the value of a trabbi? Fill it up!

About the flowers, you know I just can't resist. :lol3: The plain unknown ones are Cosmos, btw. :fish:

Anyway, nice discoveries you've made there. You must be walking around with open eyes in order to make such photos. I like it when people have this attitude... And yes, your brave one-eyed three-coloured cat is a cute one. :)

Cheers!

Markus

Does Žižka have semi-long hairs? I think her fur is bigger than my cats' future furs. :D
Title: Re: Photos
Post by: Persephone on September 28, 2010, 10:39:06 am
I do not know actually but it seems so. :) But that might be also cause by the fact that she's freely living cat so her fur is simply specified to that. But cause of her special colours of her fur I think she is half "paper cat" and half wild cat.

Hey there,

I decided to share some pics I took over the years during my trips to here and there. :) I've noticed that I like shooting certain things: birds, geometric figoures, different vehicles, and I prefer to have no people on the photos. I don't have a good camera and I also have no idea about photomanipulating, so here are some, as they turned out to be:

Wow, Lasse... man, you must get a good camera (with manual controls) and learn a little of Photoshop... you really have an eye for photography!! The chairs photo, the blocks and the photo with all empty chairs with only two "students"... and the refexion on the train... Believe me, you are good. Only try practicing more and posting!!!  :wOOt:

Fantastic stuff indeed, Lasse!

I agree with Luth: You have a photographer's eye. I'm especially fond of the chairs and the birdie. Perhaps you really want to learn some more of the handicraft? With your photo ideas that would really be worthwhile!

Anyway, thank you for sharing these, and let us know when you have new pics for us!

Cheers!

Markus
Title: Re: Photos

Perhaps I sound repetitive but, it's the truth, you DO have a photographer's eye. You already manage the equilibrium of elements in a natural way, which is not easy (I had to learn that, and I'm still practising). You use to make a photo with the same repetitive element and you add a disruption in the correct place. That may sound familiar for those who already know a lot of photography but it's not a natural thing to think of. So...

KEEP making photos and KEEP POSTING THEM!  :ninja:

PS. Thanks for the last picture. Nice to see you both!  :wOOt:

Thank you very much, you're all very kind!

I'll try to upload and post more things, it's just really hard to pick ones. I'm also thinking about giving titles to the pics, sometimes they help understanding it better I guess.

How beautiful, Kris!

Waiting for another warm day or two to open fully. We have lots of daffodils and tulips blooming here, too. Spring at full power! :)

Thank you and cheers!

Two days ago ("Thursday Saint") I went to a Procession in a little village called Verges. More than the procession itself, with all Jesus last days facts, it's famous because it has an ancestral dance, the "Death Dance". It seems it has been danced at least since two centuries ago, but it really started in the Middle Ages, although it dissappeared from everywhere except this little village. I went there with my camera and my still-to-use-for-first-time flash (it started at 00.00 a.m., so little light available), and I made some million photos. Of course, only a few have been saved, and now I'm sharing them with you. Although the Death Dance was one of the last ones to appear, I place the pictures at the beginning because they are the most impressive  :nana:

Another impressive work from thee, oh Regina Photographorum! That must have been quite a show.

Did you go there main.ly to take the photos or did you just want to see it?

Cheers!

Thanks for your kind words!  :wink2:

I went there mainly to take photos, as Xiquet and I travelled there by couch with the photography society we're members of. Of course, it was a good show, very nice and famous (at least, in Catalonia  :innocent: ), and it desevered to be seen. It's nothing if you compare with the huuuuuge processions of Andalucia, but it's better: I would die in one of those crowded, never-ending, full of people really crying show. Better this one, really  :innocent: :innocent: :innocent:

If any of you cames here by Easter, you're invited: it's only a little more than one hour far from home

Indeed, that's quite a lot of effort they made there!

I was a bit surprised, though, that the KKK showed up. :afaid:

I was (really :lol3:) a bit surprised that the procession was on Holy Thursday and not on Good Friday, because Friday was the day of the actual crucifixion and sepulture. But then again it does make sense because the passion began on Thursday.

Cheers!

Markus

Lovely, Kris!

I like the colours - silver and blue is a great combination. Did you put up any self-made decorations?

And btw - I know that corner. :wOOt:

Cheers!

Oh yes, You surely do!

Not on the tree, dear Markus. But we got a lot of snowflakes and winter themed pictures sticked in windows from paper :-)

Yes, I like white/silver-blue combination... then I also like red-golden... but this year I prefered this. And my bf likes the colours more too. Blue is his favourite (though heavenly blue is the best but You can't really put heavenly blue decorations on tree... and they are not to be found in shops either).

We have blue/silver combination every year but I think we'll go for red/silver this year since we redecorated kitchen/living room and blue wouldn't suit anymore and we got bored of it. The only problem is that I don't know if we have any red balls. We won't spend money on that for sure, at least not this year.  :P

Hello friends :)

So here is the first part of the promised pics, Markus :-)

Switzerland, Zürich - 24.2.2012 - Day first (https://picasaweb.google.com/109971115938261570626/SwitzerlandZurich2422012DayFirst?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCJnd043pgtjRhwE&feat=directlink)

That was Friday and I arrived at Zürich Hbf at 9:17. Then we took my stuff and went to my friend's place to get rid of them. I took a shower after long night in the train and then we decided to go for a stroll cause it was splendid spring weather - I could walk in sweatshirt only!
So I saw the Zürisee, few nice streets and buildings and then we made a trip Üetliberg/Uetliberg in the evening. It was sun set time and the pics are quite nice I think from there. I was already bit cold but it was absolutely great experience for first day and I was so grateful and happy.
Then we took the S-bahn back and went to Wiedikon for a dinner at Irish pub. :-)

Day two... Saturday - trip to Jungfraujoch :) It's one of the famous rack railway - cog wheel trains :) They have use the cog wheels because it's travelling to very high hills and without it would be completely unable doing such trips :)
