Okej, so here we can talk about things like: in which circumstances does J. K. Rowling named the person Sirius B.?
Does she listen to Therion?
-
ask her :D
-
Does she listen to Therion?
That seems a possible reason. :lol3:
-
No, I think it doesn't have connection with Therion :lol3: Just compare the release dates...
but I also think that the name isn't random ???
Therion lyrics are often coming from myths, philosophy and so on - and where is written, that miss Rowling have never read or heard the same thing which the lyrics of Therion (or the name of album) is later coming from? :roll-eyes:
-
Just compare the release dates...
Sure, I thought the same. :)
This all means that Rowling is interested in the same things like us Therion fans. I'm always wondering how easy is to connect the things in life, even the seemingly distant ones.
-
Yeah, it's very amazing...
Yesterday, when I was watching the movie in cinema. There was another interesting thing. When miss Umbridge (if is it written like this, I hope it is) came to control the school. It almost look like (Vlad's favourite ;D ) "inquisition" or more - nazist. The commisions on the wall or symbol on the great pendulum during the Exams. All written by black, or red ink... Sometimes the type looks like schwabach...
But maybe I'm just paranoid and mad  :lol3:
-
I thought the same and this is one of the reasons why I didn't really like the film. In the book there isn't a single allusion to that, and the film-makers just use that cliche to influence us...
-
Jo jo... I'm sure that it is a reason why in most countries is the movie on view only for children up 12 :-\
-
I'd bet the dementors have to do with that too. ;)
-
Oh je :) I forgot :D sure they have...
-
Maybe this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirius) can help out a bit. See the other names of the star? Canis Majoris. The latin denomination for the dog is Canis familiaris, so I think Sirius' name and Animagus version very carefully chosen :wink2:
-
Thanks Elizabeth
-
Plus, I wouldn't put it past Rowling to use Sirius Black because the name sounds cool and slightly latinish.
-
When I told someone about the Therion album, first thing they thought about was Harry Potter. (Bunch of ignorants! :lol3: )
I haven't seen the new movie yet, no opinion on it. But I've read the book, and I say it was worth it. ^_^
Although I still prefer Tolkien over Rowling.
-
I tried reading Barry Trotter when he first came out (no pun intended)... flipped a few pages then called it quits. Didn't catch me.
I prefer Pratchett over Tolkien over Rowling.

I guess "Black" is a good name for a family so deeply connected to the "dark lord".
Saw the movie yesterday, I really enjoyed all the afternoon and evening (I was there with my bf, we spent some time shopping in neighbour town, He bought a DVD, I bought a book and some beads (you´ll surely find them on my homepage sooner or later :) ), then we had a wonderful dinner and finished the evening with a visit in cinema :) About the movie - it´s a bit different to the others (again) but it´s ok, I like it - it´s easy to watch. I found the book more difficult to read - book 6 I found easier to read. Miss Umbridge is a bad character, poor actress who had to play her :) But I absolutely loved the sequence where Filch sits in front of the wall ... :lol3:
-
Thanks Elizabeth
Don't mention it :wink2:
I like Tolkien waaay over Rowling too, but that doesn't make Harry Potter less reaable! :insane:
-
Today I bought the 7th book. Let see how the saga ends.
-
Hey folks,
I bought the latest and final volume on Saturday and had finished it before Sunday night, just to be sure I'd read the end before some moron goes and tells me. Just in time, I might add... the moron was the local newspaper which printed a large article, giving away the end in the hugely printed headline.
Cheers!

Watched the latest movie yesterday.
If you've not seen it yet, I recomend it.
BTW, I really liked this girl that played Luna Lovegood, she's really good looking.
-
I like the "role" Luna Lovegood.... she's so "strange". I like strange people. :shifty:
-
I MUST see that movie today, I must must must! If only I could find someone to come with me
As for the book... exhilirating. I totally loved it; made me a bit sad, tho.

I dont know what's the fuss about, mr potter (who I only like cause we have the same accent despite im scot not brit) is not my kind of literature, still, the Notesomes word has always have a heavy weight on my muisical and literature purchases, so i think atleast i ll have to go to the movies and watch it
So Eli pick you up at 8? :)

Hey Loke,
forget about the movies. :wink2: They're nice to watch, no doubt about that, but of course they're not nearly a replacement for reading the books. "Harry Potter" has been developed for reading, and the movies - well done as they may be - are nothing but an add-on. So I recommend to either get the books or forget about it. :ninja:
Cheers!

H.P. as a Horcrux :wOOt: hahaha. Is a killer book the 7 one. Really nice . The epilogue is not what I expected.
I like H.P. books because these were the books that introduce me to the reading world.

The epilogue is not what I expected.
The epilogue is not what ANYONE expected, for that much!

Sooo... In the meantime I've finished book VII too. :) They can't be put down. :D
I watched movies I-V, then went on with books VI-VII, in Hungarian translation. I've read them all, back then, in English too. I even made a small "Potterionary", with the special words and names from the novels, but I can't find it - maybe it simply got lost while moving.
Of course we can chat about it, Agnes, if you feel like! :) Which one is your favourite book?
-
To be honest, I don't know :) It would be easier to choose 3 favourite ones. which are: Goblet of Fire, Order of Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince. And talking about movies - Half-blood prince, for sure.
I read all the Harry books 3 times I guess.
