Unguentum Sabbati - Strange (?) Sounds
Ignacio:
Hi folks,
Have you noticed the sounds (like hammer blows or something) around 2:10 (until 2:28 more less) and again at 3:55 -both during the "Phantom of The Opera" cameo- ?. First I thougth it was the battery plate but it is a more dry sound I think. I never noticed this until the other day I was at work and listening the song lower than usual.
What do you think?
Markus:
Hey there Ignacio,
I haven't noticed that yet, but it may well be there. After all, Therion music often contains so many layers that you can still discover something new after a gazillion spins to a song. I'll have to check if I can hear those sounds.
Did you notice them while listening directly to the record or to an MP3 or similar file?
Cheers!
Markus
Persephone:
I actually think someone noticed that on the official forum right after the relase - or maybe I'm mixing it up with some other topic. Not sure now.
Though I am afraid the kiddo was rosie :D
Ignacio:
@Markus: I was at work listening to an MP3 (but it is also in the record). What amazed me was the fact that I discovered (after a gazillion spins) that sounds while listening at a lower volume than usual. It is not quite perceptible listening the song louder.
@River: It is possible (that someone noticed that -not sure about the kiddo- ;D) because I dont think it is a mistake, that sound was put on purpose in the record.
Chek it out during some spare time. Just want to know that I'm not starting to hear things
Markus:
Hey folks,
Ignacio, I listened to "Unguentum Sabbati" straight from the CD and I didn't hear anything strange. Yeah, there are hammer-like sounds in the passages you mentioned, but that simply sounds like a normal kind of percussion to me. Either these are the sounds you mean, or you've heard some kind of compression artifacts.
Cheers!
Markus
