Hi folks,
according to this information (http://www.megatherion.com/forum/index.php/topic,2323.msg88416.html#msg88416), quoted from the Swedish embassy to Romania by Motorash on the official forum, there will be a Therion concert "together with the Romanian national radio orchestra and choir and also some singers from different Opera houses" on December 8, 2006.
I will try to make it there but I'm rather pessimistic. It's too bad that this coming so short-termed. :(
Cheers!
Markus
-
WOW! :wOOt: That'S really cool. Too bad I live so far from Romania :bawl:... It would be nice if they decide to record the show and make another Live album with it.
-
Hi Aluqak,
I'd be surprised if they didn't record a show like this. :)
Cheers!
Markus
-
I wonder if they are going to make symphonic arrangements for Theli and A'arab Zaraq songs or just plain play songs from Vovin on.
Anyway, great news, but didn't the band officilaly say thatthey won't play until 2007 in the official forum?
-
They won't play classic Therion - they'll just play classic in a Therion sort of way!
Maybe some of you could make it here... Markus? Lucy? You live nearer... Pleeeaase try to come
-
Man, I'm really pissed off about this one... Romania is too far from Canada and I have loads of work to do before x-mas :mad3:... not a chance that I can take a few days to go there to see a show :bawl:
I you go, please, have fun in my name.... and give us a very complete report about the show. I am especially interested in the therionised classic music... how did it sound, and which pieces they decided to play.
-
Maybe some of you could make it here... Markus? Lucy? You live nearer... Pleeeaase try to come
Hi Ely,
I can't... :bawl:
If somebody flies over Budapest please drop me a kiss :bye:
(You can come if you have time :))
-
Actually, who will go?
-
I don't know, Lucy - it seems the news come too fast for some to make it, like in Markus' case.
-
My case is similar to Markus' one. I won't be able to go because of the too fast news. I need time to save money, to ask for free day/s at work (and December will be the worst time to ask for)...
If Vienna happens, I'll do my best to go, but I won't be able to go to Bucharest, in any case :bye:
-
Although I'd love to go to this Bucharest concert, I just don't see it happening for me. Luth and I are still trying to figure out if I'll be going to Barcelona in January to see Therion together there! (which would be very cool, too)
-
*sigh*
I was hoping some of you might make it, after all...
*another deep, heart-breaking sigh*
-
I won't be able to go either, and as Aluqak said, have fun in name!
And rejoice Eli, at least you are going, and if possible give us a complete report of the concert. ;)
-
Virus is coming too
-
@Elizabeth/One
No, not only. They will play classics in Therion style, thats right, but they also play Therion songs in a new re-arranged way.
And also Therion songs never played live before. We all know Therion, so be sure of surprises
The classical pieces by the way have never been done by any rock/metal/pop bandy before.
If there is any chance to get there - do it !
-
I know that, blake, but thanks for clarifying anyway ;) Will you come?
-
sorry Elizabeth
Yes I will be there.
It will be a century event I am sure, but definitely it is a dream coming true for me
I heard romanian are very nice people so I hope it will be fun, although I dont speak any romanian words
-
Maybe I could give some lessons here, on NTSMS :) If you're interested, and the Mighty Ones allow us, of course. :wOOt:
-
Count me in, Ely! :)

It is a Very Safe Place kind of place, but if you're smart enough, you can always guess it :yeha:
Thanks for the congrats, guys!

You were saying something about Bucharest, JR?
P.S. Congrats! See you around
-
Oh boy oh boy oh boy!
Today's the big day!!! :yeha: :yeha: :yeha:
Anywaaaay.... the report for yesterday: went to the seminare (almost missed it, 'cause I was living under the impression that it's today :nosweat:), which.... was a bit disappointing. 1st, I was expecting an enormous crowd. Seems like Romanians just want to headbang, and are not interested in the music's background at all.
Then, Uli. The info itself wasn't so lame, but the presentation did s**k, considering he's supposed to be some kind of genius. Chris was utterly bored. I'm not kidding at all, you could see on his face that he was bored to death. At some point, he just looked in my direction, and didn't move for a while, staring into the void. When he tried to interfere a bit in the conference, he was quickly put to silence :disgust:
After the conference was (happily) over, haha... signing session! :evil2: I got my poster signed, and thanks to Virus (who nearly pushed me from the back) even took a pic with Uli and one with Chris! YES, it's true what everybody says, they truly are veeery nice and gentle people. Sometimes even too friendly, like Kristian  He signed my poster with this looong and extended signature, and when I said "That's a long signature", he replied "Well, you know what they say. Long signature, long....".   I blushed so violently, that you could have nearly lit a cigarette approaching it to my face. ¬¬
As for the dinner... it was too long and funny to detail it. Plus, I have to run now, we're visiting the Parliament  I wish you could all be here :bye:
Cheers!
Livi
-
I am happy for you Livi , ^_^ glad i could help. Enjoy the day you deserve it,.. and i mean it :lol3:
-
Me home now. I'm almost speechless, either because of the extraordinary concert, or the sorrow and frustration that must always accompany every good time I have.
If I was to resume the concert in one expression, this would be it:  Nothing more, nothing less. I'll let the programme (which I'll scan and post, even being in Romanian) speak for me:
1st part: Therion - Medley - symphonic part
4 Therion songs, in the interpretation of the symphonic orchestra, choir and opera solists.
- The Khlysti Evanghelist, Intro
- The Flight of the Lord of Flies
- Wondrous World of Punt, Intro
- Clavicula Nox, classic
2nd part: Classical music
7 pieces selected from Wagner, Verdi, Dvorak, Saint-Saens and Mozart - interpreted by the symphonic orchestra, choir, opera solists and Therion.
Dvorak
9th Symphony - Part IV
Verdi
Il trovatore - "Vedi! le fosche notturne spoglie"
Mozart
Requiem - Dies Irae
Saint-Saens
3rd Symphony - "Organ", Maestoso (fragment)
Wagner
Rienzi - Uvertura (fragment)/ACT III, "Der Tag ist da" (fragment)/ACT V (fragment)
Siegfried - "Notung! Notung! Niedliches Schwert"
3rd part
10 Therion songs from different albums, rewritten for symphonic orchestra, choir, solists and Therion.
- Blood of Kingu
- Sirius B
- Eternal Return
- Lemuria
- Draconian Trilogy
- Schwarzalbenheim
- Siren of the Woods
- Via Nocturna
- Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah
- Grand Finale
Needless to say, I almost cried when they played the Siren. Bah... I almost cried at each of the songs! And I almost cried also because Christofer played with us badly.
Enough for the moment. I'll post my own opinions later on.
-
Sounds like it was a great show... But I was all this time at a Christamas party (which sucked, by the way)... I couldn't check on online TV if it was to be shown.
-
Damn Ely , damn damn damn , now i've seen the post, I am sad you know..... becouse...... :bawl: :bye: :disgust: -_- ¬¬
Alallaa i am drunkk allllalaalala saddddddd
No comment -_-
-
OMG they played lemuria and Grand Finale!!
-
Congrats for being there, Livi!
But now I'm curious why you say that Chris played badly with you. :-(
Cheers!
Markus
-
You could check the TS forum for more details, Markus
Ooor... the thing is: he walked around the stage, threw the towels, the feathers, kept the orchestra in place, and then picked up from the floor the sheet with the order of the songs, showed it to us, and walked off the stage! He made us belive there was a chance they would play some more... and then he left!
-
http://dizzy.roedu.net/therion/
This clips gave me the chills, ecpecially the last one, too bad they are so short!
-
Just those clips make it seem better than what I read from some people who went. (Other tha Eli)
True, too bad they're so short.
I'll search in YouTube and see what there is.
-
Holy sh*t!!! They played a part of Dvorak's 9th symmphony!!!! :wOOt:........ :bawl:
I mean, that's one of my all time favourites classical pieces, and I always knew it could be therionized... now I really, really have to get a copy of that show... NOW!! :ninja:
-
Hah. You'll get one, Aluqak. Don't worry
Seems like my little experience with Kristian didn't cause the laughter I was expecting :lol3:
-

1. I want that copy as well :ninja:
2. I laughed a lot. A LOT. But I didn't post it here to avoid you blushing even more.
(Kristian is not a serious guy... ).
-
Umm... what's so funny about Kristian comparing his signature length to his beard length? It's obvious that the latter has grown a lot over the past few years, isn't it? :nana:
Oh - and where's my copy of the recording? :ninja:
Cheers!
Markus
-
Markus... very good point about the beard. :innocent: It's just that you didn't actually hear him when he said those words. :lol3:

As a qualified member of the "English Killer" crew, I´m going to kick some dictionaries with my concert review in english... :ninja:
As I´ve said in spanish, the concert was the excuse of a long-time-planned (short) holiday trip.
It was so exciting to find myself, with my friends, at the Palatului, with lots of metalheads (and not matalheads) coming from everywhere to this magnificent event.
The night started a bit wrong: we must pay show´s hand program (+-3€), and the set written on it was not in the correct order, in english version at least. I think that tickets price, 74€ in my case, were high enough to give the program free...
Reading the set list i saw that they wouldn´t play "to mega therion"... :bawl: but as wise people used to say, each one has his/her own ideal set list...
The show started with the orchestra and the choir playing some Therion songs "extracts". I really cried when the tenor started singing "The Khlysti Evangelist"...but suddenly the song finished; it was only the intro... They played 3 Therion´s songs extracts, but not in a continued-medley. It was not good for me, i think it should be better the entire songs or, instead, the 3 extracts in one only continous "song". Then, "Clavicula Nox" made us fly to other worlds. Just, fucking great
The second act, came with the band on stage. Fantastic moments (f.e. Dvorak´s "9th" and Verdi´s "Il trovatore"´s extract) and others not too bad; a good experience at all.
The interval between the 2nd and the 3rd acts remind us that it was a classical show.
The last act began with "the blood of kingu", with Mats on stage of course. After that, fantastic songs and very good execution in all of them, but there were some details: Johann´s little mistake while the "trilogy", perception of coordination lacks between the band and the orchestra, flutes and other wind instruments were sometimes imperceptible, and the choir´s volume was so low.
It was a pity, that people started with applauses before some songs end; in the other hand, the theater and the ambient made the show a bit cold. When "The rise of Sodom and Gomorrah", people started clapping and it was so clear that there was starting a good band-audience interaction...but it was too late. After "the rise...", the "Grand Finale" came, and the show ended. :bawl:
2 hours and a half of very good experience; but I really missed a "bis" and some Chris´words to the audience (lots made great economic efforts).

I found it's possible to watch international TV from this website: http://wwitv.com/portal.htm
The thing is that TVR2 is not available, so it seems that someone will have to record it.

I still haven't found the right cable for matching the laptop to the TV. Wish me luck on that!
