Title: Videos of fans playing
Post by: The One on March 05, 2007, 10:51:35 pm
Hi folks

I decided that it's a good idea to share our musical abilities (for those of us who play an instrument) through this topic with our little home-made videos. And get critique from one another too. :shifty:
Here's one of mine: Quetzalcoatl (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYWPNSRQPqw)

Hope you like it! And post your videos too! :)

Thanks, Lucy. My dad did all the filming. (And he was the most skeptic in the family when I decided I wanted to satrt on the bass)

He-he-he... nice one JR! Seems like a nice place to have a beer, listen some good music, and see some cute blonde brides :lol3: ... err... brides? Well, anyway.

I guess P.K.U. is the name of your band JR, but what does it mean by the way?

It´s a word game. As you know, when you spell PKU it sounds like "pecau" (sin in english), but really they are the sigla of "Pasaia Kaka Usaia". Don´t be afraid if you don´t understand, it´s basque language.
"Pasaia" is our town´s name. "Kaka" is...shit, and "usaia" means smell. So, "Pasaia smells like shit", or something like this.
There´s an illness called PKU too...
The song of the video is about our town (yes i know, the music is a cover from Green Day), one of the most degraded places in all the Basque Country (listen the words).

"Kaka" is...shit
Ha-ha-ha... Now I can really see how different can be the Basque language from Spanish.*

I'll take a look to your other videos later. That's for sure!

Saludos,
A.

* Edit: If don't get it 'cause you don't speak Spanish, search what does the word "caca" mean with a web-translator (i.e. babelfish) :lol3:

Aluqak, you know, when two languages live together for years, there are many words that one language adoptes from the other one. Basque language took many words form spanish...and spanish from basque.

p.d...there are other ways to say shit in basque.

Yeah I know that, it has happen everywhere in the world (just ask a Mexican how many Nauatl words have they adopted). I just found it funny that the Basque apoted that particular word (even if you have other ways to say "kaka").
Oh! btw, which words have spanish adopted from Basque? ... I'm curious about that :).

Je je i was waiting for this question...for example "izquierda", comes from the basque word ezkerra, "mochila", "aquelarre", "cencerro", "chabola"...about the adoption of the word kaka, and many more, it´s very usual in a diglosic (is correct this word?) situation as we live here.
Cheers :wink2:

He-he That question was easy to forsee I guess.
Anyway, tonight I'll go bed feeling less ignorant... "mochila" is a Basque-derived word... man!

You guys sound good, JR!
Nice job!
BTW, do you wear the same costume in every show?

Nooo, i try to change in every show, but sometimes, its not easy, so i repeat the costumes when the shows are in different towns.

Today we recorded a video of me (on bass) and a friend (on guitar) playing "Hypnotize" from System of a Down. But I'm not posting it, for the next few reasons:
We sounded like :censored:, a bastard made my bass' D string go out of tune right before we started playing :verymad: (Although, in the song, I barely even used it) and was being an ass, was sitting near us and then ran around the class, when he got near me I nearly hit him with my bass' head (which I should have! That appears in the video) my bass was too high and the guitar could barely be heard, our camera man screwed it up big time becuase he started the video in "shit mode" (That is, camera rotated at 90° sideways) and stayed in it for a moment, and then rotated into normal mode, focused on me and my friend (which was actually really good). Also, comments from classmates could be heard, some sneezing and our camera man saying "Bless you" three times...
It is crap, the crappiest video I've ever done, period... :verymad:
Although, we're thinking of doing a good version of it...

EDIT: Well, after a little editing in Movie Maker the "shit mode" thing is fixed, but the sound is still awful... Well, perhaps, I'm a little too harsh and I should put it up for people to be able to see it.

Dear Mr. One,

we strongly advise you to present the video as it is to your fellow NTSMS members. This allows their council to get an impression of the misdeeds of your classmates and to discuss an appropriate punishment for them.

Yours sincerely

And all these things pale to utter insignificance in light of the fact that we are forced to adhere to hearsay. I second Markus' notion - post! Post, I say!

Or, as the internet forum community would say: POST PROOF OR RETRACT!

Dabbling in the Arts (of Moviemaking) myself, I say with great certainty that such colorful artistic decisions (a few degrees here or there) can actually boost a scene's quality. Especially if you missed a note or had on your right hand the ring you took off of Mr. Robinson a few days after he was buried and which everyone could easily recognize and wonder, rightfully so, how you got it, especially considering the fact that he was buried with it - no one will tilt his head just so he can analyze your fingers.

So, let's all do some praisin' for the tilted camera.

Eh? Eh?

Well, I've decided to upload the fixed version... The version with the tilted camera is just too horrorific for it to be shown! :nosweat:
Here you go guys, I decided to put it as a downloadable instead of a YouTube video not to humilliate neither myself or my friend: Here (http://www.savefile.com/files/810071)
