¿What do you thing the shape under the eye is?
I was thinking the shape of a Mandragora.
-
Hey Lava,
admittedly, I have no idea. The figure is a humanoid shape with two bird-heads and a human face on each knee... Well, yes, the lyrics mention mandragora, but why exactly does this figure make you think of that?
Cheers!

Because
"Because their curious bifurcations cause them to have a semblance to the human figure (male and female)"
-
Well yes,
but why that very strange figure? The faces on the knees, the two bird-heads - these must have a reason, don't you think?
Cheers!

Birds??... mm, in the songs are mentioned birds?

Well, I think the image is not connected to the concept of GK, because it's printed on the L/SB CD-s too. And that was in 2004.

Really, I haven/t seen it :s

I discovered that a few days ago. :)

Really, Lucy? Gotta check that when I get home tonight.
Cheers!

I can't find it ¬¬
-
It's difficult to see it, the surface of the CD is very dark, but if you move it you can catch the right angle of the light. Or it's only on the digipak version?

Ohh that's why, I was looking on the booklet :nosweat:

Well observed, oh Diamond Lady,

So this fiugure also appears on the GK artwork...? Interesting...
It may have to do with Abraxas, for remember this God could be represented as a creature with bird or lion head, human torso and serpent limbs or a pain in the neck for our TS members. :lol3:
Or it could be a representation of an Egyptian God, Horus, that could also explain the eye on the cover of GK. But this is only if we look at the head as a bird, like I do when I look at my "Sirius B" CD.
EDIT: I just read the lyrics for "Der Mitternacht Löwe" and at some point it says "Fear the eagle", it could have something to do with this figure.
It could also be a symbol Thomas Ewerhard just came up with.
-
It kinda looks like a pigeon to me...
The Pigeon of Doom, perhaps?
In all seriousness, I'm just waiting for you guys to figure it out 'cause I'm clueless.
-
The Pigeon of Doom, perhaps?
LOL!!! The Pigeon of Doom, sounds so cool.
-
Wooo I have never see this figure in the L/SB cds....
What could be....should be more than The Pigeon of Doom

My mother in law?? :nana:
Naaah....now seriously....do somebody know what the figure is? maybe some one can ask to the band members
-
Hmmm, well, I may be TOTALLY off base here, but it MIGHT represent the A'arab Zaraq. I mean, perhaps it symbolises the balance of Hod and Netzach in every person (someone also mentioned human faces on the knees, which I can't see, these might represent Adam and Eve, who have an association w/ A'arab Zaraq). Anyways, that's what I think it might be. I know Therion has focused on that before, and it seems to make some sense. If anyone has a better suggestion, or more support for this one, please post a reply.
Also, there is another copy of the same figure on the back of the case (lower right) and on the second to last right hand page (also on the lower right).

I think is the representation of the Nagual
-
the nagual is not a dog?
-
the nagual is not a dog?
Nahuales can transform in anykind of animal
Nagual or Nahual (both pronounced [na'wal]) is a word used in the study of the religion, mythology, folklore and anthropology of Mesoamerican peoples and which is used with different definitions. It is related to the concept that certain persons are able to take on animal forms, which is present in many Mesoamerican cultures. It is also related to the equally common concept in Mesoamerican cultures of all persons having an animal companion to whom they are spiritually linked throughout their lives.
yo yo yo :)
-
The Nagual is the Unknow, is like the Dragon concept of D.R.
-
Hmm... the shape under the eye was the first thing I was wondering about when I bought the album.
But now - excuse me for one of my stupid questions ;D - who is the man in the booklet? ???
-
Hi Praha,
the bearded man depicted in the booklet is Johannes Bureus, a Swedish linguist and mystic on whose mystic ideas the whole album is based. The booklet artwork, I think, is also derived from his drawings. Karlsson is writing his doctor thesis on Bureus and his Gothic Kabbalah.
Cheers!
